The creation of new neighborhoods in the municipality of Chessy requires carefully managed stormwater systems, notably including the construction of retention basins. The present development aims to transform this technical infrastructure into a true living space, combining hydraulic performance, ecological enhancement, and quality of use. The objective is to develop a wetland ecosystem that supports biodiversity, encouraging the establishment of wildlife and complementing the surrounding woodland environments.
Two viewing platforms, located to the north and south of the basin, visually integrate the hydraulic structures while creating resting areas that offer sweeping views over the ecosystem. A boardwalk and a lower promenade, extending above the reed bed and wet meadow, invite visitors to experience an immersive sensory journey at the heart of the wetland. An accessible route for people with reduced mobility, integrated into the site’s natural slope, leads down to the lower boardwalk to ensure accessibility and allow everyone to discover the helophytic environment.
