Mathurins Eco-District, Lot A1  --

Within the Mathurins Eco-District, Lot A1 stands out as a centerpiece of the new urban landscape. Its design combines rigor with sensitivity: the district’s clear, structured framework interacts with the inner courtyards, coherently organizing circulation and living spaces. The goal is twofold: to create a functional and legible place while offering a sensory experience where people and nature coexist harmoniously.

The landscape design places biodiversity at its core. Plant species, carefully selected for their diversity and adaptability, create rich and varied sensory environments. The rustle of leaves, birdsong, the scents of aromatic herbs, and the presence of fruit to pick structure the daily experience. Seasonal changes in the plants mark the rhythm of residents’ lives, while the density of vegetation, combined with large deciduous trees, provides both shade and sunlight depending on the season. A sunken garden designed for rainwater retention contributes to a refreshing microclimate, enhancing comfort and quality of life.

The communal terrace on the eighth floor (R+8) extends this connection between nature and habitat. Centered on the theme of edible plants, it offers accessible educational vegetable beds, inviting conscious interaction with living things. The furniture and pergola structure create varied atmospheres: gathering spots for shared meals, quiet corners for reading or contemplation. Birdhouses and insect hotels enrich the ecosystem and raise awareness of urban biodiversity, while edible climbing plants reinforce the space’s functional and vegetal character.

Lot A1 thus exemplifies a contemporary approach to urban planning, where quality of life, sustainability, and ecological integration come together. The project is more than just a landscape design; it is a living environment designed to foster interaction, celebrate nature, and situate every human action within a coherent, living ecosystem. Urban and vegetal elements meet here in a thoughtful continuity, creating a delicate balance between functionality, comfort, and the poetry of space.
