The forecourt of the Édith Bonnem social center is being reinvented as a vibrant community space open to the neighborhood. The pedestrian and cycling pathways now allow for safe movement, connecting surrounding streets to nearby parks and facilities, while giving priority back to gentle, sustainable modes of transportation.
The green spaces, already extensively planted, provide coolness and shade while structuring the square and creating areas conducive to socializing and relaxation. Benches, pergolas, and playgrounds blend naturally into this landscaped setting, inviting both children and adults to enjoy the space.
Ongoing work is completing this transformation: the development of the remaining green areas, the finishing of playgrounds around the multisport field, and the installation of systems to capture rainwater.
Designed to address environmental and climate challenges, this new layout gives the forecourt a human and welcoming dimension, where residents can reclaim the space, meet one another, and fully enjoy their neighborhood.
