Octagonal Square  --

The project focuses on the development of a neighborhood square designed as a true urban cooling island. It relies on a strong presence of vegetation to combat urban heat islands and promote soil permeability in an urban environment.

The square is conceived as a large raised platform, helping to calm traffic and secure pedestrian pathways. This design enhances the legibility of the public space and affirms its welcoming, community-oriented character.

Pedestrian areas, as well as café and shop terraces, are protected and enhanced by recessed planting beds that incorporate rainwater collection and infiltration systems. This landscape approach supports sustainable water management while structuring the space.

The strong presence of vegetation provides cooling and shade, reduces mineral heat reflection, and contributes to the comfort and well-being of residents.

Finally, a specific decorative paving pattern has been designed to give the square a distinctive and assertive identity, befitting its emblematic role at the heart of the neighborhood.
